Autumn

Autumn is traditionally a quieter time in the outdoor enthusiast’s life.  It is often a time to reflect over summer activities and a time to dream about winter goals. Autumn is, however, a beautiful time to visit Norway, especially Valdres. The colours are stunning with winter creeping in over the mountain tops and the valleys remaining green.  While Autumn may not have the longest days and certainly does not have the most stable weather, it is possible to undertake both touring and mountaineering courses in the Jotunehim.  And the mountains are simply empty and dramatic!

Autumn ski-touring

The days get shorter and colder, the valleys still green and lush, mountains now in winter cloths.  Autumn is a good time to get out if conditions allow.  A great time to get that early tour in and brush up on skills that are so important in the winter months.

These tours are a mix of ski touring, winter techniques and the all important avalanche awareness.  Days in the mountains followed by warm food and cosy fires back in the house.

Mountaineering

Autumn mountaineering Høst fjellsports

Autumnal mountaineering is a special gift, the valleys are green while the mountains are starting to wear winter cloths.  While many think the mountains become closed in Autumn in reality they often at there very best.  Certainly bad weather can come, but often enough some of the most stabile weather can be found.

Mountaineering courses can be run thought this period, offering summer climbing in the valley and winter mountaineering in the high mountains.  The best of both worlds. Contact us for more details.

In the moment

In the future all our courses will be run “In the moment”, but for now we run courses for those who wish to be awake. All the courses, tours or guided tours can be run “in the moment”, for this we mean, we try our best to stay in the “now” and not dither in the past or worry about the future.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to just go on one walk in the mountains and just be present to yourself. Fully. Without labels, without identifying yourself with past unhelpful traits.
